Annex Baptist Church - Nassau, Bahamas

The New Annex Baptist Cathedral had its beginning under a tree in Union Village. The work began there by one David R. Knowles, but soon moved to Wulff Road, which was only a footpath. Propelled by God and assisted by one Alexander Black, a strip of land measuring less than 2500 sq. feet, was purchased from one Joseph Chase for six pounds. On this land a much smaller building was erected.
There were several leaders of the congregation before its first Pastor was ordained namely David Knowles, Sandy Johnson, and Dec. Isaac Pinder (who was its first Pastor). The congregation grew and the need for more land space became a reality. Several other parcels of land adjoining the first parcel were purchased from various land owners, and they together make up the land on which the Cathedral

Succeeding Pastor Pinder, was the Rev. Alexander Black, who was succeeded by the present Pastor, Rev. Dr. Mitchel E. Jones in 1990. The church membership continues to grow and so has the vision and the ministries of the church.
